The Atrium at UCOL Palmerston North 

Nestled in the heart of the city, close to cafes, bus stops and The Square is UCOL's Palmerston North campus. Named 'Rangitā ne Tikaraina ki te Matauranga' by Rangitāne, its name translates in part to "straight pathway to education".

The campus architecture blends historic buildings with state-of-the-art facilities centred around The Atrium, where students can access computers, quiet study areas, learning support, the library, café, and wellbeing and information hubs.  Other facilities include:

Visiting UCOL 

Feel free to visit UCOL to see what it's like and talk to our friendly Information Centre team. We have onsite car parking and a cafe.

Car parking
Let UCOL know when you're visiting and we'll arrange a UCOL Temporary Parking Permit for you in advance of your visit. Contact Facilities Management on 06 952 7001 extn 7333.
  • Free 30 minute parking with a permit is available to visitors on Queen Street outside Block 6. Book your space with Facilities Management.
  • $1 half day and $2 all day parking with a permit is available to visitors on Grey Street, Queen Street and Princess Street. Pay via the machine located in the car park.

Make sure you display your Permit clearly,  your Pay and Display ticket (if in a paid space), and if you're parking in a mobility space, also display your Mobility Card.

Free bus transport and other benefits

UCOL students have access to a range of benefits, including free bus transport within Palmerston North. There is a bus stop directly outside the campus on Princess Street and we're a five minute walk from the Central City Terminal, where buses arrive and depart every 20 minutes.

If you live in Whanganui and wish to study/work at UCOL in Palmerston North, you can travel for free by bus with Horizons

Whanganui to Palmerston North
6:45am - The bus departs from UCOL in Whanganui
7:45am - The bus arrives at UCOL in Palmerston North.

Palmerston North to Whanganui
5:15pm - The bus departs from UCOL in Palmerston North
6:25pm - The bus arrives at Trafalgar Square in Whanganui, and at UCOL at 6:30pm.

This bus runs on weekdays, except on public holidays.

UCOL has a range of services to help you with your study journey, including tips on how to fund your study and information about scholarship opportunities.

All students enrolled at UCOL gain automatic membership to Association of Students at UCOL (AS@U), which offers a range of support services and advocacy. The office is located across the road from the main campus in The Gap mall.
